grace kelly, revisited.

I'm currently teaching a film class filled with high school seniors and am having so much fun with it. Last week, we watched Hitchcock's Rear Window, and I don't think I've ever had such a good time watching a movie with a group of people. They were shouting while dying out of suspense, and couldn't get over Grace Kelly's beauty. At one point, one male student slammed his fists on his desk and shouted "If Grace Kelly dies, I'm never coming back to school again!" So, so hilarious. Ahhhh. . . teenagers. . .they're the best.

sartorialist crush.

Oh, how I adore this look. Those platform lace-up shoes are awesome with the black tights and the largeness of her coat is great. Who says you can't look completely fabulous all bundled up?

hello, pretty T.

Check out what my girl Mary made. I went to grad school with this lovely woman, but we mostly talked about school and teaching and other random things-- little did I know she could open a store showcasing all of her fashion design talent! After purchasing a cheap t-shirt from Target, she used scraps of curtains, bridesmaid dresses, buttons and one of her grandmother's earrings. How awesome, right?

oh, anthro.

The images in this month's Anthropologie catalog are so beautiful. After I finished flipping through the pages, I wanted to rummage through my closet and get rid of half my clothes, plan a fantastic trip somewhere far away, and then go get her adorable haircut (but it would look terrible on me).

Which leads me to my question: does anyone else have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the Anthro catalog every time they look through it? Sometimes after browsing, I end up feeling like my life is so unglamorous, so unfashionable, and just so un-put together. It's a little bit of a life meets fantasy meets reality conversation every time. Gosh, it's embarrassing to admit that. What is it with this sense of unrealistic envy? However, at the same token, I suppose that's part of what makes these pages so great-- they're like little slices of a dream. And I just have to learn to slap myself a little each time after perusing. . .

wedding dresses.

I have to admit-- I've been totally swooning over the Elizabeth Dye wedding dresses floating around the web. Each of them are so simple yet so feminine. I think the top one is my fave. See more on her blog.

mittens.

While browsing through even cleveland's awesome blog, I discovered this photo of 90 different types of mittens, by Lithuanian textile artist, Stasė Tallat-Kelpša. Doesn't this get you a wee bit excited for wearing mittens all winter long?

festive bows.

i'm not really much of a bow girl, but something about the holidays makes the adornment of such a frilly detail feel completely appropriate. these two from ban.do are great fun, don't you think?

warning: sheepish post.

so, i apologize for this totally sheepish post, but i'm having an impulse decision conflict moment. i adore zooey, and i've been contemplating her haircut for a few weeks now. . .i just signed up for a haircut for this evening. do i dare to go for the bangs? help!

now, if we could only go have an appointment with zooey's wardrobe. . .

p.s. i feel so nervous about posting an entry about me + my hair, so please forgive if i come across as totally self-absorbish :).

this shawl collar wrap sweatshirt is made by lirola.

and this wool knit dolman sleeve hoodie is made by sandmaiden.
