happy summer.

Well hello there, friends. It has been so long since I've blogged that I feared I wouldn't remember how to log in. But, today marked the end of a busy school year and I am soo happy to say that summer is finally here. Whoo hoo! As an added bonus, Johnny and I leave for our California adventure in a week. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to catching up here and with my favorite reads. xo.

a streetcar named desire.

Cate Blanchett, in my opinion, is pretty much the most talented actress out there (aside from Meryl Streep, of course). I'm dying to go see her perform in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Harvey Theater in New York, and we'll actually be pulling into the city in time for closing night, but of course it's sold old. Hot dang! I bet the performances are breathtaking. Read the NY Times Review here.

the NY times ran a great piece this week about sailing the caribbean on a budget (for $55 a day, to be exact!). i really would love to learn how to sail someday. . . read all about one dude's adventure here.

a place to escape.

i'm loving these pictures from nova scotia this morning. a recent article in the ny times said this southernmost region, port joli, is set between fishing boats and lobster traps, and that pirates once patrolled the edge! how cool, right? does anyone else dream of visiting nova scotia? or has anyone been there? check out the swoon-worthy slideshow here.

i'm really loving these bike photos from bubbo's photostream on flickr. she took all of these in various spots throughout italy (including the cities of florence and rome). don't these shots make you want to hop on a plane and then a bike? xo.

happy wednesday.

johnny and i are taking an impromptu trip to madison, wi for the next two days. i'll be back friday and posting more regularly. our good friend erika from boston is going to be there for work, so we figured we'd take a mini road trip and visit her during her free hours. we are hoping to eat some good wisconsin cheese, and soak up some time around the lakes. these are the joys of being back in the midwest, my friends.
